Frequently asked questions
Plain answers about chiropractic care at Align
What happens at my first visit?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. You talk with Dr. Salameh, he examines how you move, and he explains what he found and what the options are. Treatment starts that day only if you agree. Wear clothes you can move in.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Like any hands-on care, it carries some risk. Many people feel sore or stiff for a day or so afterward. Rare, serious problems have been reported, including a tear in an artery in the neck that can lead to a stroke. Dr. Salameh goes through the risks that apply to you before any technique, and you can say no to any of them. If you have signs of a stroke or another emergency, call 911 first.
Will it hurt?
Many people feel pressure and sometimes a sound from the joint. Some are sore afterward, a little like after a new workout. Tell Dr. Salameh if anything is uncomfortable, and he will change the technique or stop.
How many visits will I need?
Your doctor suggests a plan after the exam and reviews it with you as you go. We do not promise a number of visits up front, and you can stop whenever you choose.
Do you take my insurance?
Some plans pay for some chiropractic visits, and what they pay differs from plan to plan. We bill most PPO plans and a few others. Our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit and tells you what it finds. The How fees work page has the details.
What if I do not use insurance?
You pay at the visit. Your doctor tells you the fee for each part of the visit before it happens. You also have the right to a Good Faith Estimate: ask when you book and we will give you a written estimate before your first visit.
Do I need x-rays?
Not always. X-rays are taken only when they are medically necessary, and your doctor explains why before ordering one. They are not a routine part of a first visit.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Yes to both, with care. Children are seen with a parent in the room for the whole visit. During pregnancy, please check with your midwife or OB first. Dr. Salameh describes what each visit involves and what chiropractic does not claim.
What if I am already seeing another provider?
Tell us. If you ask, we will share notes with your doctor, physical therapist or other provider, and we will not change what they have told you to do without talking with you first.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please tell us as early as you can if you need to change a visit, ideally a day ahead, so someone else can have the time. Ask the front desk about the practice's policy when you book.
Still have questions?
Call the front desk or send a message, and we will answer them.
